Patna: Karnataka defeated Bihar by eight wickets in their third Ranji Trophy match of the season, held at Moinul Haq Stadium. After winning the toss, Karnataka chose to field, giving Bihar the opportunity to bat first. Bihar were bowled out for 143 runs in their first innings, after which Karnataka declared at 287 for the loss of seven wickets, securing a 144-run lead.
On the final day, Bihar took to the field for their second innings, scoring 212 runs before being bowled out. This left Karnataka with a target of 69 runs, which they reached comfortably by scoring 70 for two wickets in 10.1 overs, sealing victory by eight wickets. Bihar’s Sakibul Gani was named the Man of the Match for his impressive 130-run performance in the second innings, which included 15 fours and four sixes.
For Bihar, other second-innings contributions included 44 runs from Babul Kumar and smaller contributions from Vaibhav Suryavanshi (6), Shraman Nigrodh, Veer Pratap Singh, and Anuj Raj (all dismissed for zero). Other scorers included Bipin Saurabh (7), Raghavendra Pratap (4), Jitin (15), and Himanshu Singh (1), while Sakib Hussain remained unbeaten on zero.
Karnataka’s bowling attack was led by Shreyash Gopal, who took four wickets, with V. Vyshak claiming three, while Mohsin Khan, Vidyadhar Patil, and Kaushik V each took one wicket. In their chase, Karnataka’s Mayank Agarwal (9) and Sarman R (15) opened the innings, while Nitin Jose scored 28 and Abhinav Manohar remained unbeaten on 17. Bihar bowlers Anuj and Himanshu took one wicket each.
Bihar will face Madhya Pradesh in their next match at Moinul Haq Stadium starting on 6th November.
