Karan Raj slams double century for Shahabad in drawn match

Purnia: The three-day match between Rest of Shahabad Zone and Katihar ended in a draw at Green Valley Ground on Sunday.

On the third day, Shahabad started their innings from 125 runs and thanks to Karan Raj’s double century, they scored 462 runs in the second innings losing all wickets. Karan Raj carried his innings from 58 runs and scored 269 runs facing 251 balls. Apart from this, Tarun Kumar Singh contributed 44 runs, Sagar Tiwari also made 44 runs and Paramjit Singh scored 26 runs.

For Katihar, Peter Mardy took four wickets for 84 runs with seven maidens in 28.2 overs and Shahnawaz Ali took three wickets for 114 runs with one maiden in 17 overs.

Chasing 394 to win, Katihar scored 95 runs losing 6 wickets but they managed to draw the match.

For Katihar, Ankit Singh contributed 25 runs and Abhishek Kumar contributed 23 runs, while for Rest of Shahabad, Vivek Kumar Singh took two wickets for 29 runs and Hridayanand Singh bagged two wickets.  Karan Raj was adjudged player of the match.
