Bhagalpur: In a novel protest against deplorable road condition, Deepika Pandey Singh, Congress MLA of Mahagama constituency in neighbouring Godda district of Jharkhand resorted to Satyagrah on Wednesday in water filled sizably large crater on NH 133.
The road passing through bordering area of Bihar and Jharkhand namely Ishipur Barahat area of Pirpainty block in Bhagalpur district of Bihar and Mahagama area of Godda district in Jharkhand is in bad shape for quite some time.
The stretches of the national highway has become inaccessible due to potholes and huge crater. As per local residents of the area for last two years no thorough repair work of damaged stretch has been undertaken.
They allege due to precarious condition it takes hours for vehicles to pass through damaged portion of highway. Number of accidents is occurring every day while accessing damaged portion of highway, local residents say.
The residence of Pirpainty BJP MLA Lalan Paswan and Mahagama Congress MLA Deepika Pandey Singh is respectively located in Bihar and Jharkhand side of area where people are up in arms against deplorable condition of highway.
To register protest against neglect of the highway a youth of the area Ranvijay Mishra earlier yesterday tonsured his head sitting in the water filled crater on the road.
Taking note of discontent among people Mahagama MLA resorted to Satyagrah in water filled crater today for expressing solidarity with agitated people.
Talking with newsmen at place of protest MLA held central government solely responsible for deplorable condition of the road. Deepika Pandey Singh said the road was handed over to NHAI earlier this year.
To the best of her information tender was floated to repair the damaged road however due to reason best known to NHAI no progress was made so far repair and renovation of damaged road is concerned, MLA added.
She criticised Godda BJP MP Nisahikant Dubey alleging he has failed to do needful in providing relief to people from inconveniences caused because of bad road condition.
Sitting in water filled crater the MLA announced she would continue her Satyagrah till the time repair work is initiated by NHAI. However persuaded by local authorities Deepika Pandey Singh subsequently broke her Satyagrah. Meanwhile work has started for filling up huge crater on the road.
