Patna, July 31: The Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that India is marching towards achieving new economic dimensions under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “In this direction, Prime Minister Modi has called for “Vocal for Local” Mantra to make India self-reliant and give global recognition to Indian products. For the success of domestic products, it is necessary to ensure that their quality is world class and their prices are competitive, so that India can realise its dream of 5 trillion dollar economy,” he said.
Union Minister Choubey inaugurates renovated building of the Bureau of Indian Standards’ branch office and laboratory in Patna
Choubey was addressing the officials, employees and representatives of industries after inaugurating the refurbished laboratory and office of Bureau of Indian Standards branch office in Patna on Sunday. He said that in this context, the Bureau of Indian Standards is playing an important role. The interest of consumers is also involved in the determination and operation of these standards. For the proper development of the country, development of every state is also necessary.
The Union Minister said that due to the continuous efforts of the Central and State Government, industrial activities have increased in Bihar today. “Along with this, the trend towards standardisation has also increased in the industries of Bihar and new products are coming for standardisation. As a result, there has been an increase of about 15 to 18 per cent in the licenses being given by the Bureau every year”, he said.
He said that the system for testing of new products has also been started in this refurbished premises of Bureau of Indian Standards Patna branch laboratory. In which the system of checking the purity of bottled water and gold is included. The already available systems have also been upgraded and important among them are steel products, cement, PVC products and chemical products. All top officials including DG Pramod Tiwari of Bureau of Indian Standards were present on this occasion.
