IIT-BHU’s Pika Squad to compete in Hult Prize Regional Summit to be held in Dubai

The world’s largest international student competition Hult Prize being organized in educational institutions around the world

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India:  

The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long world’s largest international student competition that challenges university-level students from around the world to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy and education. It also receives ideas from people after giving them. In this sequence, IIT (BHU) organized the on-campus round of Hult Prize.

Giving this information, Campus Director Chirayu Mittal, who is leading the Hult Prize BHU On-Campus Programme, said that the top 12 teams selected from the preliminary round pitched before 3 eminent judges. In this, a team of five students of the institute ‘Pika Squad’ has been selected as the winner. The suggestions given by this team on Industrial Waste Management scored the highest marks. The team includes Anesh Srivastava, Suyash Tripathi, Amritansh Singh, Rohan Sinha and Priyanshu Banka. The winning team of IIT BHU’s on-campus program will participate in the Hult Prize Regional Summit on Clean Energy to be held in Dubai.

Apart from this, he informed that apart from the campus program, teams will also be selected from the open application. Apart from the institute, interested teams from entire Purvanchal will be able to participate in this competition. Its last date is 12 March. Thereafter the final number of qualified teams from International Conferences for IIT (BHU) will be declared.

Campus Director Chirayu explained that the Hult Prize competition provides $1 million in seed funding to the team with the most innovative and groundbreaking ideas to solve one of the world’s toughest social challenges. The Hult Prize is organized by colleges and universities around the world in search of innovative startups. The winning team from each city moves on to the Summer Accelerator, where partners receive mentorship, advice and planning to prototype and launch their new social business. The World Final Round competition will take place in Paris, where the winning team will be awarded a $1,000,000 prize.
