Patna: The 14th Hockey Bihar Junior Girls State Championship 2024, hosted by Hockey Saharsa, concluded today at MLT College grounds, Saharsa. In the final match, Hockey Patna outplayed Hockey Purnia with a 3-1 victory, clinching the championship for the second year in a row. Patna’s Akanksha Yadav gave her team an early lead by scoring a penalty corner in the 14th minute. They maintained the 1-0 advantage through the first quarter. Rish Kumari extended Patna’s lead with a field goal in the 36th minute, and Yadav added another goal in the 44th minute, taking the score to 3-0 by the end of the third quarter. Purnia’s Fancy Khatoon responded in the 56th minute, scoring a consolation goal to make it 3-1.
Akanksha Yadav’s outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Match award.
The match was officiated by umpires Pallavi Kumari and Shivani Kumari, with Johnny Kumar, Raju Kumar, Piyush Kumar, and Mohammad Mushtakim managing the technical table.
Chief guest Manoj Kumar, DIG, presented medals and trophies to the winning team, while MLT College Principal Dr Pawan Kumar honoured the runners-up and gave a vote of thanks.
Dignitaries at the closing ceremony included Hockey Bihar Secretary Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Treasurer Dr Iqbal Akhtar, Assistant Secretaries Manoj Kumar and Achal Kumar, Chief Coach Amar Bharti, and Hockey Saharsa Secretary Sunil Kumar Jha.
