Bhagalpur: A cancer detection camp held at IMA hall here on Tuesday this week marked beginning of health week programme of local chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA). Health week programme is organized by local chapter of IMA every year as part of world health day celebrations.
Beginning from April 4 the health week programme would continue till April 9 this year. The health week programme was inaugurated by DM Subrat Kumar Sen. In his inaugural address DM said compared to past cancer screening facilities have increased at local level.
In this context he informed facilities for cancer screening is now available here both at medical college hospital and sadar hospital. At medical college hospital palliative and chemotherapy center has been established DM said adding there is however need to ensure similar cancer screening facilities also in rural areas.
Total 65 females were screened at cancer detection camp. The doctors having expertise in the field speaking on the occasion in number of cases informed about early symptoms of different types of cancer which should not be ignored.
With objective of health for all, the health week programme has been designed this year by local chapter of IMA. A senior citizen health camp was organized at IMA hall today in which free health check up of elderly people was done by doctors.
An urban health awareness camp is scheduled at Bihar Agriculture University auditorium tomorrow as part of health week programme. Further a walk for health and healthy baby show has been planned respectively on April 7 and April 8. On April 9 concluding day of health week programme a rural health camp is scheduled at Primary School in Bhitti village of Sabour block.
The inaugural session of health week programme yesterday was chaired by Dr Sanjay Singh, president of local chapter of IMA. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr Manish Kumar. Those present on the occasion included Dr D P Singh, Dr Amitabh Singh, Dr Satish Kumar, Dr Archana Jha, Dr H I Farooque, Dr Pratibha Singh, Dr Anjana Prakash, Dr Beena Sinha, Dr Behari Lal beside others. Dr Basundhara Lal, mayor was among dignitaries present on the occasion.
