Rajgir: Haryana delivered a stellar performance on the final day of the fencing events at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 in Bihar, clinching all three gold medals. The matches took place at the Indoor Stadium of the Rajgir Sports Complex.
In the boys’ sabre team final, Haryana defeated Tamil Nadu 45-22 to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile, the girls’ team secured gold medals in the épée and foil events by beating Maharashtra (45-39) and Chandigarh (45-33), respectively.
With a total of 7 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, Haryana topped the fencing medal tally. Maharashtra followed with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan secured one gold medal each to make it into the top five.
Captain of Haryana girls’ épée team, Dipanshi, credited the coaching staff for their victory. She said, “This is my second consecutive gold in a team event. Our success is due to the hard work and guidance of our coaches.”
Ujjwal, captain of the boys’ sabre team and a first-time KIYG participant, said, “Teamwork and determination led us to victory. I thank Coach Kapil Sir, Rajpal Yadav Sir, Narendra Singh Sir, and Suresh Sir for their support.”
Haryana’s head coach, Narendra Singh, praised the team’s efforts, saying, “Our players performed brilliantly. Like in previous editions, Haryana maintained its dominance. This was made possible by the players’ hard work and mental resilience.”
