Patna: An excellent batting by captain Harshita Bhardwaj (56 not out) and Yashita Singh (36 runs) and accurate bowling by Kumari Nishtha ( 2 wickets ) helped Bihar win their second match of the BCCI Women’s Under-19 T20 cricket Tournament against Himachal Pradesh by 68 runs at ISL Gurunanak College, Chennai here on Sunday.
Bihar had lost its first match against Chhattisgarh yesterday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bihar scored 158 runs for seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Himachal Pradesh team could manage to score only 90 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Shruti Gupta, who came to open the innings for Bihar, returned to the pavilion scoring only 3 runs. Later, other opener Kumari Nishtha supported Yashita Singh. There was an important partnership of 52 runs between the two. When the team’s score was 60 runs, Bihar got the second blow and lost the wicket of Yashita, who scored 36 runs off 15 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. At this score, Bihar lost another wicket of Kumari Nishtha, who scored 14 runs off 20 balls with the help of one four.
Captain Harshita Bhardwaj and vice-captain Arya Seth took the innings forward and shared a partnership of 32 runs. Arya Seth was dismissed after scoring 13 runs off 22 balls.
Vaidhi Yadav, Anshika Raj Rupa Kumari gave little support to captain Harshita Bhardwaj and Harshita, playing captain’s knock, took Bihar’s score to 158 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Harshita Bhardwaj scored an unbeaten 56 off 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six.
Rupa Kumari scored an unbeaten 9 off 9 balls. Vaidhi Yadav scored 5, Anshika Raj scored 3 runs.
For Himachal Pradesh, Anahita D Singh took three wickets for 30 runs, Sakshi S Thakur (1 for 45), Anshita M Sandal (1 for 19), Taveesh K Vala bagged one wicket for 18 runs.
In reply, Himachal Pradesh’s team could score 90 runs for seven wickets off 20 overs in front of good bowling of Bihar. For Himachal Pradesh, Devanshi R Verma scored 19, Sakshi S Thakur scored 24 not out. 17 runs were scored with the help of extras.
For Bihar, Kumari Nishtha took two wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs. Khushi Gupta took 1 wicket for 5 runs. The fielding of the players of Bihar was also very good. They did four Himachal players run out. The run out was done by captain Harshita, Anshika Raj, Kumari Nishtha and Rupa Kumari. Bihar will play their next match against Nagaland on October 4.
