Hardcore female extremist nabbed by Munger police

Bhagalpur: A hardcore female Maoist Kare Devi was arrested by Munger police team on Tuesday from Goriya Sakhol forest under Ladiyatand Police Station (PS) in Dharhara block of district. She was wanted in connection with brutal murder of Parmanand Tuddu, mukhiya of Azimganj panchayat beside other incidents of extremist violence.

Kare Devi, resident of New Pesraha village is prized catch for Munger police. The hardcore extremist was nabbed in course of operation undertaken in Goriya Sakhol forest area by Munger police team comprised by members of STF, Jamalpur and Munger police.

Led by Kunal Kumar, SP (operation) a haunt intended at nabbing Kare Devi was launched in Goriya Sakhol forest under supervision of Jagunatharaddi Jalaraddi, SP Munger. Operation was undertaken for nabbing hardcore extremist following receipt of secret information by Munger police that she was hiding in Goriya Sakhol forest area.

As per available information the arrested Maoist used to provide inputs to members of extremist organization regarding police movement and activities. Kare Devi is one of the 21 named accused in murder of Parmanand Tuddu, former mukhiya of Azimganj panchyat located in Dharhara block.

Tuddu, the newly elected mukhiya was killed by extremists in December, 2021. Facing threat of life from extremists Tuddu seldom visited his house in Azimganj panchyat, as per information. He used to stay at other places taking into consideration threat to his life from extremists.

On fateful night he was brutally murdered by extremists, Tuddu had been to his house for dinner. A group of extremists raided his house while he was at home. Tuddu was taken near a platform located in village after he was dragged out of house by extremists. They subsequently beheaded him. The extremists considered victim as police informer.

Kare Devi one of named accused in the case had been absconding since the incident. She was also wanted by police in Piri Bazar case no-83/19 lodged in July 18, 2019 in connection with extremist violence. Arrest of Kare Devi is significant for Munger police taking into consideration she could divulge important information regarding organizational network and activities of Maoists.

It may be mentioned Dharhara block of Munger district located close to tri junction of Lakhisarai, Munger and Jamui district had strong presence of extremists in past. However due to mounting police pressure and presence of paramilitary forces, extremists have lost their foothold in the area to a considerable extent in last few years. Incidences of extremist violence has registered considerable drop since Maoists started losing ground in the area.
