Patna, July 13: The Grappling Committee of India has recognised the Grappling Committee of Bihar for popularizing and developing the game of grappling in the state of Bihar. Social worker and sports lover Kishlay Kishore will be the chairman of the Grappling Committee of Bihar, while sports expert Gauri Shankar has been appointed as the general secretary.
Praveen Kumar Singh, Development Director of the Grappling Committee of India-cum-president of Jharkhand Grappling Association, today recognised the president of the Grapping Committee of Bihar, Kishlay Kishore on the instructions of Dinesh Kapoor, president of the Grappling Committee of India and Birju Sharma, general secretary. He also gave away the certificate of affilation.
Talking to media, the newly appointed Grapping Committee of Bihar President Kishlay Kishore said that soon the committee will be expanded by adding sports lovers who cooperate for sports and sportspersons. Along with this, the game of grappling should be popular in all the districts of the state and there should be participation in state-level competitions, for which recognition will be given to the district associations. The first general body meeting of the Grappling Committee of Bihar will be held on July 31 at Hajipur (Vaishali). Grappling game and players will be equipped with better infrastructure facilities so that the players of the state can win medals in national competitions of different age groups and they can also participate at the international level.
General secretary of Grappling Committee of Bihar Gauri Shankar said that the first Bihar State Sub-Junior Grappling Championship (Boys and Girls) would be organised on July 30 and July 31 at Hajipur. On the basis of their performance, the players will be selected for the Bihar team. The team of Bihar will participate in the Sub-Junior National Grappling Championship to be held in Dehradun (Uttarakhand) from August 19 to 21.
Praveen Kumar Singh, Development Director-cum-Supervisor of the Grappling Committee of India said that all possible cooperation will be given by the Grappling Committee of India to develop Bihar Grappling. Very soon referee and coach seminar will be organised in Bihar as well as national level trainers will train the players of Bihar.
Committee treasurer Ranjan Gupta and joint secretary Ravi Ranjan Kumar were also present at the press conference.
