Ranchi: Gulveer Singh of Uttar Pradesh clocked 29:05.90 to win the men’s 10000 m gold on the first day of the 26th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi on Monday.
Abhishek Pal of Uttar Pradesh claimed the silver medal with a timing of 29:07.11 while Rohit Kumar of Delhi bagged the bronze medal with a timing of 29:08.95.
In the women’s 10000 m run, Sanjivani Babu Rao Jadhav of Maharashtra clocked 33:32.73 to win the gold. Kavita Yadav of Uttar Pradesh clocked 34:05.47 to bag the silver medal while Seema of Himachal Pradesh earned the bronze medal with a timing of 34:43.66.
In the women’ s throw final, Tanay Chowdhary of Uttar Pradesh won the gold medal with a heave of 60.54 metres. Sarita Singh of Uttar Pradesh got the silver medal with a throw of 60.45 metres while Manpreet Kaur of Punjab threw the hammer to 57.08 metres to win the bronze medals.
Jharkhand Sports Director Dr Sarojini Lakda, Deputy Director Jharkhand Sports Authority Dev Shankar Das, AFI Secretary Ravindra Chaudhary, Dronacharya Award winner Chief Athletics Coach Radha Krishna Nair and Jharkhand Athletics Association President Dr Madhukant Pathak were present at the opening function.
Sports Director Dr Sarojini Lakda, Shivendu Dubey , Dev Shankar Das and SK Pandey gave away the medals to winners.
