Patna: Gaya extended its dominance on the third day of the Bihar State Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship, held on Tuesday, by securing 4 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Patna and Siwan shared the second spot, each winning 1 gold and 1 silver.
Organised by the District Administration, Patna, under the aegis of the Bihar Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority, the championship saw Gaya clinch gold in the 4×100 metre relay with a time of 44.95 seconds. Patna came second, securing silver with 46.80 seconds, while Buxar took bronze, finishing in 47.56 seconds. In the 5 km walk event, Saurav from Samastipur claimed the gold medal with a time of 32:29.85, followed by Alok Kumar from Darbhanga, who won silver with 32:50.20, and Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary from Sitamarhi, who earned bronze with 34:28.58.
At the Patliputra Sports Complex, Ayush Raj of Saran dominated the javelin throw with a gold-winning distance of 55.90 metres. Abid Raza from East Champaran earned silver with 53.05 metres, while Ashish Kumar from Jamui took bronze with 51.60 metres.
Patna secured its first gold in the 110 metre hurdles, with Gautam Kumar finishing in 16.48 seconds. Abhay Kumar from Jamui claimed silver with 17.30 seconds, and Ashish Ranjan from Muzaffarpur took bronze with 17.53 seconds. In the long jump event, Pradeep Kumar from Rohtas leapt 7.02 metres to secure gold, followed by Prem Raj from Gaya (6.68 metres) and Manish Kumar from Bhojpur (6.48 metres), who won silver and bronze, respectively.
Medals and certificates were presented by Om Prakash, District Sports Officer, Patna, to the winners of the various events.
