Four killed as hyva truck rams into roadside eatery in Bihar’s Vaishali district

Patna, August 3: Four people were killed and 12 others injured when a hyva truck rammed into a roadside eatery in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Bahuara Chowk in Patepur police station area, 42 km north of state capital, Patna.

Police said the driver of the speeding Hyva truck lost control over the vehicle and hit the eatery, killing four people who were having their meal, on the spot. Twelve other people were seriously injured in the incident, the police said, adding that they had been admitted to a hospital.

The bodies of the victims had been sent for post-mortem examination, the police added.

Angry people caught the driver and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. They also blocked the road, demanding compensation to the family of those killed. The blockade was lifted following assurance by officials to look into the matter.
