Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has suffered a setback ahead of the first round of the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, with former Bhagalpur MP Bulo Mandal joining the Janata Dal (United).
At a meeting held at the JD(U) office on Thursday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar granted Bulo Mandal JD(U) membership. Following Bulo Mandal’s joining the JD(U), there is concern that Gopal Mandal’s troubles would worsen as a result of the JD(U) quota in the 2025 assembly elections.
Many prominent leaders attended the event, including JD (U) State President Umesh Kushwaha, Lalan Singh, and Minister Vijay Chaudhary. Bulo Mandal has expressed was upset for not getting ticket from Bhagalpur. It is worth noting that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bhagalpur seat went to the account of Congress in the Grand Alliance. Ajit Sharma, a Congress MLA, has been nominated as the Lok Sabha candidate. Bulo Mandal has been a prominent face of the RJD in Bhagalpur.
Bulo Mandal became an MP after winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bulo Mandal lost to the JD(U) in Bhagalpur. This time, there was hope that the RJD would issue the ticket. However, the Congress party got the Bhagalpur seat. Elections are to be held in the second phase in Bhagalpur. There JD(U) candidate Ajay Mandal is in the fray.
Bulo Mandal will now endeavour to defeat the Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate and ensure that the JD (U) candidate wins. Rashtriya Janata Dal is experiencing setbacks one after the other. Ashfaq Karim and Devendra Yadav have also stated that they will be leaving the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
