Lucknow: The Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is fast emerging as a major sector for employment generation in Uttar Pradesh, owing to the efforts of the Yogi government. The recently concluded Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 4.0 witnessed remarkable investment in the flourishing FMCG domain, which will generate significant employment opportunities for the youth.
Varun Beverages Limited has joined the league of major investors in the FMCG sector in UP through GBC 4.0 and is set to establish manufacturing plants in Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, and Madhyanchal regions (Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Amethi, Chitrakoot at the cost of Rs 3500 crore. The focus of these plants will be on producing fruit pulp, fruit juice-based drinks, beverages-based syrups, and packaging products, which are anticipated to generate over 1500 employment opportunities.
Similarly, Moon Beverages Limited is investing Rs 756 crores to establish an integrated greenfield factory in Hapur (Paschimanchal) for manufacturing carbonated soft drinks and juices. This state-of-the-art manufacturing factory, using modern technology, will create over 752 jobs.
Additional FMCG sectors are also creating employment opportunities
In addition to the FMCG sector, significant investments are being made in the Additional FMCG sector. As part of this, joint ventures of Bhartiya Beverages Private Limited and Reliance Retail Ventures Limited have invested Rs 600 crores in Muzaffarnagar (Paschimanchal), creating over 500 job opportunities in the region. Similarly, Balaji Wafers Private Limited has invested Rs 500 crores in Hardoi (Madhyanchal) to establish an integrated food processing unit, generating 1500 job opportunities.
Besides, companies like SLMG, Grupo Bimbo, Bikanervala, Haldiram, Happpilo, VKC Nuts, and many others are also investing thousands of crores of rupees in the FMCG sector, creating large scale employment opportunities.
Air Cargo Terminal will provide employment to 5000 people
The aviation industry is also set to provide employment opportunities on a large scale in the state. The biggest investment in this sector is being made by Air India SATS Airport Services Pvt. Ltd. The company is establishing an Air Cargo Terminal and Logistics Park by at the cost of Rs 4,000 crores in Gautam Buddha Nagar district (Pashchimanchal), which will create more than 5000 job opportunities. The Air Cargo Terminal to be built near Jewar Airport will be ready soon, facilitating significant business within the country and abroad.
