Bhagalpur: An employee of a private bank was shot dead by unidentified criminals at Sahoo Parbatta under Parbatta Police Station in Naugachia subdivision of this district late in the afternoon yesterday.
The victim has been identified as Nakul Paswan, resident of Tikkapatti in Purnia district. He was employed as field officer in LNT Bank. As per information Paswan on way to bank located at Makandpur Chowk on a bike was shot at from behind by motorcycle borne criminals on road number 14 near a tamarind tree.
They took his bag before fleeing as victim fell down from bike following firing. Paswan was returning to bank after collecting money from members of a female group, had nearly Rs 70000 cash with him.
It is suspected for looting cash the victim was shot dead by criminals. Police has intensified efforts for identification of the criminals involved in the incident. In order to identify the criminals, the locals have been contacted besides CCTV footages have been scanned by police.
As per unofficial sources police investigation has revealed two criminals who were on motorcycle committed the crime. The victim who fell down from motorcycle after being shot by criminals was alive for some time, as per locals.
However, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the spot. Two empty cartridges besides mobile phone of deceased have been recovered by police from place of occurrence.
