Eastern Railway Initiates Several Measures to Cope With Festive Season Passenger Rush

Bhagalpur: Taking note possibility of huge increase of passenger traffic during current festive season particularly during Chhath Puja several measures have been initiated by eastern railway for ensuring security and comfort of passengers.

The stations within jurisdiction of eastern railway where passenger footfall has registered substantial increase additional Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters have been opened to prevent crowding of passengers at ticket counters.

Total 185 trips of festival special trains have been arranged by eastern railway to ease rush of passengers. Compared to festive season last year commuting facility has been increased by 40.20 % this season by eastern railway.

As per railway officials increased commuting facility would help prevent passenger crowding in train compartments. To ensure hassle free boarding and deboarding in trains, security personnel and station staff have been deployed at strategic locations.

Security surveillance has been increased at different stations also in trains to restrict people form carrying inflammable or any other dangerous items in trains and station premises.

Provisions of additional coaches have been made in several long- distance trains to cope with festive rush. Under supervision of senior railway officials comprehensive crowd management strategies are being followed at several stations where festive season passenger rush is comparatively more.

Taking into consideration increased demand of ticket for a particular route, arrangements have been made for running special trains in the said route.
