Muzaffarpur: East Champaran defeated Vaishali 4-2 in the match played on Saturday under Group A of Zone-2 of Moinul Haq Cup 71st Bihar State Inter-District Football Championship at the LS College ground here on Saturday.
The match was inaugurated by Prasannajit Mehta (President, Bihar Football Association), Ashwani Khatri (President, Muzaffarpur Football Association), Asgar Hussain (Chairman, Muzaffarpur Football Association), Prabhakar Jaswal (Vice President, Bihar Football Association), Ravindra Singh (Vice President, Bihar Football Association) ), Sunil Kumar (Executive Secretary MFA), Dr. Firozuddin Faiz (Chief Patron), Pankaj Kumar, Mahendra Prasad (Director of Sports LS College), Former players Krishan Kumar Srivastava, Chandrashekhar Kumar, Irshad Mallick Naushad ul Hasan by getting introduced with the players.
East Champaran were leading 2-1 at the lemon break. In the first half, the first goal of the match was scored by Manoranjan Sardar of Vaishali district team in the 8th minute. Rehan of East Champaran district equalised with a goal in the 40th minute. After that, due to a handball in the D area from the defender of Vaishali district team, the East Champaran team was awarded a penalty kick by the referee. Sumit Yadav did not miss the target and gave his team the lead in the 45th minute.
In the second half, Vaishali district team’s Manoranjan equalised with a goal in the 48th minute. Vishwajeet of East Champaran put his team into the lead again in the 85th minute of the game. In the 95th minute of the match, Rehan scored his team’s fourth goal for the East Champaran team (4-2).
Santosh Pandey (Buxar), Arun Hansda (Patna), Shashi Kumar Suman (Patna), Tarun Kumar (Samastipur) were the judges. Syed Imtiaz Hussain (Secretary, Bihar Football Association) said that on July 16, Muzaffarpur district football team will take on Vaishali district football team.
