Bhabua, June 26: East Champaran triumphed in the BCA Shyamal Sinha Inter District Under-16 Cricket Tournament, organized by the Bihar Cricket Association and hosted by the Kaimur District Cricket Association. In a thrilling final match, East Champaran edged out Gaya by 11 runs.
In the final match held at the Jagjivan Stadium in Bhabua, East Champaran won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted a competitive total of 188 runs in 37.3 overs. Madhuranjan Pandey top-scored with 57 runs off 63 balls, while Shivam Kumar, Siddharth Gautam, and Navneet Kumar each contributed 24 runs. Manikant added 11 runs to the tally.
For Gaya, Anish Kumar was the standout bowler with 3 wickets for 34 runs, Raja Kumar took 3 wickets for 25 runs, and Ayush Kumar claimed 2 wickets for 31 runs.
Chasing 188 runs, Gaya fell short, scoring 177 runs in 39.3 overs. Opener Ayush Kumar scored 34 runs off 50 balls, Pawan Bhardwaj added 25 runs off 18 balls, and Abhishek Raj contributed 25 runs off 36 balls. Pradeep, Pritam Raj, Yashasvi, Shivam, and Raja chipped in with 18, 18, 14, 13, and 11 runs, respectively.
East Champaran’s Manikant delivered a stellar bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 23 runs. Cash Alam took 2 wickets for 42 runs, and Satyam claimed 1 wicket. Manikant was awarded the Player of the Final Match trophy for his exceptional bowling.
