Drug racket busted in Patna; one held, 10 packets of smack recovered

Patna, August 4: Patna police on Thursday seized 10 packets of smack and arrested a man for drug peddling from a shop in slums near Kankarbagh Mor here.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kankarbagh police station raided the shop, arrested the 20-year-old drug peddler, Raj Kumar, and seized 10 packets of contraband, Rs 2.47 lakh in cash, ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh and two bank passbooks from there. The wife and mother of the accused, who were also involved in drug peddling, managed to escape, the police said.

“During interrogation, Raj Kumar has said that his mother used to buy smack from Deepak alias Manish, who lives in nearby Chandmari Road, every day,” the police added.

A large of their customers were students, the police added.

Kankarbagh SHO Ravi Shankar Singh said that raids were being conducted to nab the person from whom Raj Kumar, his wife and mother used to buy smack.
