Kanpur: Criticizing the previous governments for hindering Kanpur’s economic growth, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed on Saturday that the double-engine government is resolutely committed to restoring the lost glory of Kanpur and Bundelkhand.
Addressing the third Scheduled Caste (SC) conference organized in Kanpur, the Chief Minister said, “Kanpur, once hailed as the nation’s foremost emerging city, stood proudly among the top three economically thriving cities in the country. Previous governments worked to undermine Kanpur’s economic progress. Today, we take pride in inaugurating and laying foundation stones of projects worth Rs 500 crore, and devising new schemes to reignite the city’s growth.”
The Chief Minister went on to say, “Presently, Kanpur is gaining recognition as a metropolitan city and evolving into a pivotal hub for the Defense Manufacturing Corridor. The double-engine government has embarked on the development of a new industrial center spanning 38,000 acres of land, extending from Kanpur to Jhansi, on the lines of Noida. The modern infrastructure work being executed here is poised to be a transformative milestone, reshaping the fate of not only Kanpur but the entire Kanpur-Bundelkhand region.”
Prior to this, the CM inaugurated the Ved Vyas Gram Vikas Project, worth Rs 1.56 crore, aimed at rehabilitating the families of devotees who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Kortha village on October 2, 2022. Besides, he gifted 152 development projects worth Rs 501 crore to Kanpur.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister performed the Annaprashan Sanskar of three infants (Divyanshi, Arnav, and Mohit) and flagged off 100 hopper tipper vehicles for waste management. He also watched a film based on Citizen Facilitation Centre.
He also distributed house keys, tool kits, smartphones, tablets, and sewing machines to the beneficiaries of various schemes, including Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, ODOP, Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, and State Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana.
Expressing his deep respect for the Scheduled Castes, CM Yogi emphasized, “Today, you’ll find Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s image displayed in every government office. During the Samajwadi Party government, the name of the medical college in Tirva Kannauj was changed. SP goons broke the stone slab because they were irritated by the name Baba Saheb. They were afraid to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Maharishi Valmiki, Lord Ved Vyas, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Sant Ravidas for fear of losing their vote bank. These actions revealed their true faces and character. They would say one thing and do another.”
“In stark contrast, our double-engine government follows through on its promises. Our schemes and initiatives are aimed at empowering every underprivileged individual”, the CM added.
The Chief Minister continued by saying that his government is effectively expanding the program of development of Panch Teerths associated with Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and is organizing the Akhand Ramayana Path on the occasion of the holy birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki.
“Prime Minister Modi has declared November 26th as Indian Constitution Day. The double engine government stands firmly by your side, dedicated to ensuring your safety, self-reliance, and respect. Rest assured, both this government and every member of the Bharatiya Janata Party are steadfastly supporting you,” said the CM.
Reflecting on the Kortha incident, CM Yogi recounted that a year ago, 35 families were tragically affected by a trolley tractor collision. As a result, these families were left orphaned, and their lives were in grave danger. He emphasized, “In the name of Maharishi Valmiki ji, we have established an entire township for them, providing each family with a home. The government is your pillar of support during your darkest hours. This double engine government stands united with you in times of crisis.”
Citing the example of MLA Rahul Bachha Sonkar, the CM said that his father was martyred during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. “People believed that the family was orphaned. But this is Bharatiya Janata Party; it does not allow anyone to be orphaned. Once we hold hands, we never let it go. We work to take them forward with respect”, he remarked.
CM Yogi said the government will guarantee minimum wages to all sanitation workers and added that a committee has been formed for the purpose under the leadership of the Chief Secretary. “We have said that concrete arrangements should be made to ensure that no one exploits them”, he added further.
He continued, “Today, you can witness these government schemes reaching every underprivileged individual without any discrimination. Every Dalit, every deprived person is reaping the benefits of these programs. It’s evident that the concerted efforts made at the government level to effectively distribute the benefits of these schemes are yielding positive results.”
On this occasion, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Satish Mahana, BJP State President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Union Minister Bhanu Pratap Verma, Regional President Prakash Pal, State Government Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Rakesh Sachan, Aseem Arun, Pratibha Shukla, Anoop Valmiki, MP Satyadev Pachauri, Devendra Singh Bhole, Mayor Pramila Pandey, MLA Mahesh Trivedi, Surendra Maithani, Rahul Bachha Sonkar, Abhijeet Singh Sanga, Neelima Katiyar, Saroj Kuril, Arun Pathak, Salil Vishnoi, Avinash Singh Chauhan and District Panchayat President Swapnil Arun were present.
The empowerment of society relies on empowering women: CM Yogi
The CM also took part in a sewing machine distribution program for 1001 needy women from self-help groups organized by the JK Group in Kanpur. The CM also gave cheques and citations to women beneficiaries of many other schemes. During this event, CM Yogi extended his gratitude to these women and the JK Group for their remarkable initiative aimed at empowering women. He stressed that a robust society cannot be built without empowering half of its population. A strong and self-reliant society is a prerequisite for realizing the vision of a robust nation. When we focus on the advancement of women, society gains momentum and starts moving forward.
CM Yogi was pleased to learn that these women had undergone training in sewing machine operation. “We have no shortage of manpower. We have scale, and we need to combine it with skill. For this, the government will have to provide a platform and is also working for the same. Under Mission Shakti, the government is working with commitment for the safety, self-reliance and dignity of women. CM Yogi praised the JK temple and said that it is an example of how clean and beautiful the places of worship should be.
