Patna: The three-day Bihar State Under-11 Chess Championship, organised by Mega Mind Chess Club under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association, concluded today. The final day of the event, held at Hotel Diamond Inn, Patna, showcased thrilling matches among the young chess prodigies.
In the boys’ category, two rounds were played today. Devansh Keshari emerged victorious, defeating Advik Kumar of Patna and drawing with Yuvan Raman in the final round, clinching the title with 6.5 points. Meanwhile, the brothers Yuvan Raman and Yash Raman from Muzaffarpur, both with 6 points, secured second and third positions, respectively, with Rudra Veer Singh of Khagaria finishing fourth, all determined by tie-break points.
In the girls’ category, the final round saw Ankita Raj triumph over Mohini Pandit of Chapra on the top board, while Dhanvi Karmakar of Kishanganj defeated Arshi Aatish on board two. Both Dhanvi and Ankita finished with 4.5 points. However, Dhanvi was declared the champion, and Ankita the runner-up, based on superior Buchholz tie-break points. Mohini Pandit and Manisha Yadav took third and fourth places, respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the chief guest, former Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Prasad Yadav, along with Dharmendra Kumar, Secretary of the All Bihar Chess Association, and Sanjeet Saurabh, Managing Director of Hotel Diamond Inn, who presented the trophies and medals. Other notable attendees included Jaiprakash Sinha, Vice President of the All Bihar Chess Association, Joint Secretary Iqbal Alam, Organising Secretary Vipal Subhash, Senior Player Vinay Kumar, Chief Arbiter Nand Kishore, Deputy Chief Arbiter Alok Priyadarshi, Assistant Arbiter Priyanka Kumari, and several other dignitaries.
