Patna: Wicketkeeper batsman Harshit played a splendid knock of unbeaten 74 as Bihar after losing three wickets for only 8 runs, scored 185 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their first innings, replying to Odisha’s first innings score of 265 all out on the second day of the four-day Cooch Behar Trophy match at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Sunday.
Harshit came to bat when Bihar were virtually reeling at 77 for 4. Harshit single-handedly guided Bihar to a respectable score of 185 for 9 before the stumps were drawn on the second day.
Harshit 75 came off 90 balls with the help of eight boundaries and three sixes.
Earlier, Virat Pandey and Animesh Kumar put on 66 valuable runs for the fourth wicket. Virat Pandey made 45 runs with the help of five boundaries, while Animesh Kumar scored 33 runs with three fours.
Bihar had a poor start in their innings as they lost three wickets for only 8 runs on the board.
For Odisha, speedster Asutosh Marndi was the most successful bowler, as he claimed five wickets, giving away only 41 runs off 13 overs.
Earlier, beginning the day on 237 runs for the loss of eight wickets, Odisha’s first innings folded for 265 runs. Overnight, not out batsman Shreyansh Bhardwaj made a gritty 95. The Odisha lad missed a ton by just five runs. He hit 15 boundaries and one six in his innings. For Bihar, Anup Kumar was the most successful bowler as the spinner returned with the best figures of his career: five wickets for 35 runs, giving away 38 runs off 27.2 overs.
