Convocation Function Held in T M Bhagalpur University After Gap of Four Years

Bhagalpur: The 47th convocation function was organized in T M Bhagalpur University (TMBU) on Wednesday after gap of nearly four years. Total 1929 successful students were provided degree at convocation function presided by Bihar Governor and Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

Addressing august gathering including students and teachers present on the occasion, chancellor said convocation is no end of education. Citing example of a seventy- four old recipient of gold medal the chancellor said there is no age limit for gaining knowledge.

Taking into consideration vast expanse of knowledge there cannot be end of learning, he was of the opinion. The chancellor said the universities, college and schools are vibrant centers of new energy.

The university, college and school students representing the new vibrant energy, he loves meeting and interacting with them, he added. The students and research scholars present on the occasion were motivated by chancellor to use their energy and knowledge for constructive purposes that can significantly contribute in social development.

Earlier in his welcome address Dr Jawahar Lal, Vice-Chancellor (VC) spoke about measures being taken for all round development of university. Speaking about educational activities he referred to cocurricular and additional curricular activities being undertaken in university.

Referring to future plans of university, the VC said university looks forward to start job- oriented courses like Bachelor of Physiotherapy, B.Sc. in Sericulture, Disaster Management, Yoga, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning beside vocational course of accounting and taxation from current academic session.

The university he said plans to have cyber security mechanism in near future in order to ensue data concerning research and inventions could be properly protected. Modernization of all laboratories and computer center forms part of future plan, he added.

Dr Rajvardhan Azad, chairman, Bihar State University Service Commission was guest of honour at convocation function. In his address the chairman stressed upon need of qualitative improvement in researches that are being undertaken in universities. He felt repetition of research work on same topic needs to be avoided.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, union minister of state for forest and environment was chief guest at convocation function. The students who had successfully completed postgraduate course in 2017-19 and 2018-20 sessions were provided degrees at convocation function today.

At graduation level successful students of 2018-21 session were provided degrees. Total five successful students received best graduate medals besides total 156 students received gold medals.
