CM Yogi allocates Rs 23 crore in compensation for farmers in 9 most rain-hit districts of UP

Rs 5 crore released for Jalaun & Rs 1 crore for Chitrakoot farmers amid crop-damage reports

Compensation amounts released also for Lalitpur, Mahoba, Saharanpur, Banda, Basti, Jhansi & Shamli

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, released an amount of Rs 23 crore in compensation for the affected farmers in nine districts of Uttar Pradesh, which have been most impacted by hailstorms/ rains in the last three days in terms of damaged crops.

The Chief Minister has instructed the Relief department to immediately transfer the compensation amount to the accounts of the affected farmers on the basis of the survey report. Additionally, in other districts of the state, the survey of damaged crops is almost complete and payment of compensation to the famers is underway on the basis of the survey report.

CM Yogi approves compensation amount soon after reviewing the survey report

Principal Secretary (Revenue) P. Guru Prasad informed that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, all the District Magistrates of the state were sent to the agricultural farms to conduct an on-site assessment of the damages caused to the crops by the inclement weather. Subsequently, the DMs of the nine most affected districts presented their reports on the damages caused to the crops by untimely rainfall and hailstorms to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, on the basis of which, the latter released a compensation of Rs 23 crores for famers in the nine districts.

Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that the highest compensation of Rs 5 crore was sanctioned for Jalaun whereas Lalitpur, Mahoba, and Saharanpur have received approval for Rs 3 crores each. Likewise, an amount of Rs 2 crore each has been sanctioned for Banda, Basti, Jhansi and Shamli and Rs 1 crore for Chitrakoot. The process of compensating affected farmers in these districts is ongoing.

Notably, the compensation is primarily given to farmers whose crops are damaged by more than 33 percent due to floods, hailstorms, and untimely rainfall.
