Broad Daylight Jewellery Heist in Danapur: Criminals Loot ₹50 Lakh from Shop Near Police Post

Patna: In a brazen act of daylight robbery, criminals targeted a jewellery shop in the Danapur area, making off with valuables worth ₹50 lakh. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon around 12 PM at “Giva Jewellery Shop,” located on the Saguna-Khagaul Road. The stolen items included diamond and gold jewellery valued at ₹40 lakh, along with ₹26,000 in cash.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbery unfolded when two individuals entered the showroom posing as customers. They initially asked to see small gold rings before requesting a larger one. One of the men then excused himself, claiming he needed to call his sister-in-law. Moments later, he returned with four to five accomplices. Armed with pistols, the group threatened the shop staff and began stuffing gold and diamond jewellery into their bags. They also attempted to take silver jewellery but abandoned it after being informed of its lower value. Following the heist, the criminals fled towards Khagaul Road.

The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras. Upon receiving the report, the police promptly arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Danapur ASP Bhanu Pratap Singh stated that authorities are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the culprits. Preliminary suspicions suggest the involvement of an organised gang. Blockades have been set up at key entry and exit points of the city, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspects.

The most alarming aspect of the robbery is the shop’s proximity to a local police post, located just 200 metres away. Despite this, the criminals executed the heist with apparent ease, raising serious concerns about the city’s security measures.

This incident is part of a worrying trend in Patna, where cases of robbery, dacoity, and shootings have been on the rise. The audacity of the criminals has left local traders and residents in a state of fear.

Currently, the police are examining CCTV footage from both inside and around the jewellery shop to gather more evidence. Senior officials from the Bihar Police have arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation. Multiple teams have been formed to expedite the arrest of the suspects. Authorities are confident that the case will be solved soon, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
