BN College Hostel Raid: Five Students Arrested for Liquor Party Amidst Bihar’s Prohibition Law

BY Vishwapati

Patna: A late-night liquor party in the hostel of BN College caused chaos when police conducted a surprise raid on the occasion of Republic Day and Saraswati Puja. The raid, which took place late at night, disrupted the hostel’s calm, sending students into a panic.

Some students were caught red-handed while drinking alcohol. On spotting the police, they attempted to flee, but five students were apprehended on the spot. During the operation, the police recovered half a dozen bottles of foreign liquor.

Liquor is strictly prohibited in Bihar, and it appears the students did not anticipate that the police would raid the hostel premises. The raid, carried out specifically on the twin occasions of Republic Day and Saraswati Puja, led to the immediate arrest of the intoxicated students.

After being detained, the students reportedly pleaded with the police, apologising and requesting leniency to avoid ruining their careers. However, the authorities did not heed their appeals and escorted them to the Pirbahor police station. The students were tested with a breathalyser, which confirmed alcohol consumption.

Town DSP Ashok Kumar Singh confirmed the raid and the arrests. He stated that police had also searched the Jackson and Minto hostels, covering all rooms and the entire campus. Fortunately, no objectionable materials were found in these hostels.

The late-night operation has left a lingering atmosphere of unease on campus, highlighting the strict enforcement of Bihar’s liquor prohibition laws.
