Patna: A blazing century (107) by wicketkeeper batsmen Bipin Saurabh helped Bihar reach 247 for the loss of seven wickets on the opening day of their four-day Ranji Trophy plate group match against hosts Meghalaya at MCA ground, Polo ground in Shillong on Tuesday.
Bipin Saurabh hit 11 boundaries and 7 sixes in his knock of 107 runs off 115 balls. Earlier, Sachin Kumar Singh played a gritty knock of 52 runs to save Bihar from batting collapse as Bihar were struggling at 14 for the loss of two wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Sachin Kumar Singh shared a partnership of 133 runs for the third wicket with Bipin Saurabh after Gani retired hurt. However, Gani took the crease after the fall of Sachin’s wicket. The first day’s play stopped was stopped after the 68th over of the Bihar innings due to bad light. At that time Sakibul Gani was on the crease with a polished half century (52) while Shivam S Kumar was yet to open his account.
For Meghalaya R B Bishnoi Jr took four wickets for 56 runs off 22 overs.
