Patna: Shreya Rani of Begusarai (Bihar) won a silver medal in women’s 62 kg taekwondo even at the 37th National Games in Goa on Thursday.
With this, Bihar have so far won three silver medals in the National Games.
Bihar won its first medal in the taekwondo event of the National Games after the partition of the state. Before this, in 1999, Bihar had won a medal in the taekwondo event at the Imphal Games.
Shreya Rani won this medal in the senior women’s under-62 kg weight category. She was defeated by Priyanka Leitathem of Manipur in the final. Earlier, Shreya had entered the semi-finals by defeating Yashika Arora of Rajasthan. In the semi-finals, Shreya defeated Sania Khan of Goa and entered the finals.
This is the third silver medal for Bihar at the 2023 National Games. Before this, Shashibhushan won the silver medal in the men’s 1500 m race, and the Bihar women’s rugby sevens team won the silver medal.
