Patna: Bihar’s women’s U19 cricket team delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Meghalaya by 58 runs in the Women’s U19 One Day Trophy match held at Alur Cricket Stadium-II in Bangalore. Bihar batted first, posting a total of 173 runs in 39.4 overs. Meghalaya, chasing a target of 174 runs in 50 overs, managed only 115 runs for 9 wickets, securing a comprehensive victory for Bihar.

The cornerstone of Bihar’s triumph was Anjali Kumari, who played a brilliant knock of 55 runs off 75 balls, including 8 boundaries. Her aggressive innings against Meghalaya’s bowlers proved crucial for the team. Additional contributions came from Akshara Gupta (22 runs), Soni Kumari (20 runs), and Julie Kumari, who remained unbeaten with 18 runs. Bihar’s total of 173 runs posed a formidable challenge for Meghalaya.

Meghalaya’s bowling effort was led by Jayshree, who claimed 4 wickets, showcasing her determination. Captain M Singh contributed with 3 wickets, while Jaylinan took one wicket, but their efforts were not enough to contain Bihar’s batting lineup.

Bihar’s bowlers dominated the match, leaving Meghalaya’s batters with no room to settle. Sidhi Kumari spearheaded the attack, taking 4 wickets and dismantling Meghalaya’s batting order. Baby, Julie, and Khushi Kumari each claimed one wicket, further restricting Meghalaya with their precise line and length.

For Meghalaya, Janika top-scored with 27 runs, followed by Palika with 16 runs and captain M Singh with 14 runs. However, their efforts were insufficient to reach the target, as Bihar’s disciplined bowling kept them to 115 runs.

This match marked a historic victory for Bihar’s women’s U19 cricket team, showcasing exceptional performances in both batting and bowling. Anjali Kumari’s stellar batting and Sidhi Kumari’s impactful bowling underscored the team’s dominance.
