Bihar Women’s Kho-Kho Premier League to be held from June 8 at St Mary’s School Masaurhi

Patna:  Under the aegis of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, Bihar Women’s Kho-Kho Premier League will be organised at St Mary’s School in Masaurhi (Patna) from June 8. The final match will be played on June 12.

Giving this information, Neeraj Kumar Pappu, General Secretary of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, said that the traditional Indian game Kho-Kho is very popular in Bihar. To increase the trend of girl players towards this game even more, the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar decided to start the Bihar Women’s Kho-Kho League.

He said that the responsibility of hosting this league was taken by the management of St. Mary’s School, Masaurhi, after a meeting with the principal of the school, Father Packiyam Baskar V and the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar.

He said that the selection process of the players in this league has been completed. Eight teams will play in this league, and each team will have 15 players. A team will get a chance to play seven matches. The top four teams will enter the semi-finals.

He said that Rahul Sinha, president of the Gopalganj Kho-Kho Association, would be the league commissioner. Various committees are being formed soon for the successful conduct of the event. The preparations for the league have begun under the leadership of Fr. Packiyam Baskar V, Principal of St. Mary’s School.

He said that the matches would be played on mats and would be a day-night affair. Players will have to report at the venue on June 7. The accommodation and food for the players will be arranged on the school premises.

Neeraj Kumar Pappu said that talented players will also be selected from this league, and they will get a chance to play in the national tournaments in Bihar.

Father Packiyam Baskar V, Principal of St Mary’s School, said that the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar has entrusted us with a big responsibility. The school management will discharge this responsibility in a better way. He said that it is our desire that the players move forward by playing on our school premises.

Sanjay Kumar, Police Station Officer of Masaurhi Police Station, who is associated with the organising committee, said that this event will act as a link in the development of Kho-Kho in Bihar. He said that a big event is being organised in Masaurhi. He said that every comfort and convenience of the players would be taken care of by the organising committee.
