Bihar Women’s Kho-Kho League off to a flying start at St Mary’s School, Masaurhi

Patna: A new history was created in the Indian Kho-Kho on Thursday at St Mary’s School Ground in Masaurhi town of Patna district of Bihar when the Bihar Women’s Premier Kho-Kho League got off to a colourful start. This is the first time in the country that a women’s kho-kho league has been organised by a state association.

The league was inaugurated amid a colourful ceremony by MS Tyagi, General Secretary, Kho-Kho Federation of India, Sanjay Kumar, SHO, Masaurhi Police Station, Santosh Kumar, Manager, Punjab National Bank, Masaurhi Branch, Father Prabhu Das, Secretary, St Mary’s School, Kho-Kho Association of Bihar Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Harun Rashid, Mohd Tahbeg; and Mrigendra Pratap Singh by lighting the lamp. The guests also took a salute to the march past undertaken by participating teams.

The march past was also attractive in this inauguration ceremony organised under floodlights. Players of the Yellow Yoddhas, Red Rangers, Green Giants, White Warriors, Blue Blasters, Pink Pioneers, Golden Girls, and Silver Stars mesmerised everyone by performing an attractive march past to the tunes of the school band.

Neeraj Kumar Pappu, secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, school girls Khushboo Kumari, Ayushi Kumari, school sports teachers Ashok Kumar Singh, Anees Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Tania Kumari, and Kartika Kant welcomed the guests by giving them bouquets and making turbans.

On this occasion, the player of Ultimate Kho-Kho League, Ashwini Kumar of Bihar was specially honoured by MS Tyagi, General Secretary of Kho-Kho Federation of India.

A total of four matches were played in the morning session on Thursday, in which the Red Rangers, Golden Girls, Green Giants, and Pink Panthers posted victories.

For the first time in Bihar, efforts are being made to implement the rules of the Ultimate Kho-Kho League in Kho-Kho matches being held on mats instead of clay. Some of its rules have been implemented, which has increased the speed of the game.

In the match played on Thursday, the Red Rangers defeated the White Warriors 47-15, Golden Girls defeated the Blue Blasters 52-47, the Green Giants defeated the Yellow Yoddhas 79-28, and the Pink Pioneers defeated the Silver Stars 67-18.
