Gaya: Bihar women’s team clinched a bronze medal in the team championship event of the Yonex-Sunrise East Zone Inter-State Team and Individual Badminton Championhip-2024 at Lord Buddha Badminton Academy (DPS Campus, Gaya) courts on Thursday.
Uttarakhand will take on Uttar Pradesh in the men’s team event final. In the women’s team event final Uttar Pradesh will face Uttarakhand. In the boys’ team event final Uttarakhand will clash with Odisha while in the girls’ team event final, Uttarakhand will meet West Bengal.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Bihar number one women’s player Saloni Kumari beat Akshita Manral of Uttarakhand 18-21, 21-12, 23-21 while Srija of Bihar beat Agrima Dobhal 21-10, 21-13. Bihar’s Akansha Pandey lost to Anushka Juyal 18-21, 12-21. In the doubles, the pair of Saloni Kumar and Simran Singh lost to the pair of Gayatri Rawat Mansa Rawat 6-21, 11-21 and the Bihar’s combination of Suhani Kumari and Srija lost to Unnati Bisht and Sneha Rajwar 6-21, 10-21.
