Patna: In a historic achievement for Bihar sporting legacy, the state has secured its first National Games gold in 25 years, marking a significant breakthrough on the national stage. Leading this momentous feat, Bihar’s women’s lawn bowls team—comprising Payal Preeti, Khushboo Kumari, and Nikhat Khatoon—displayed remarkable skill and determination to clinch the gold medal. Their victory not only ends Bihar’s long-standing wait for a top podium finish but also ignites a renewed spirit of sporting ambition across the state.

On the twelfth day of the 38th National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand, Bihar made history by claiming gold in the women’s triples event in lawn bowls. This marks the state’s first National Games gold since the bifurcation of Bihar in 2000.
In a nail-biting final, the Bihar women’s team overcame a formidable West Bengal side with a 15-14 victory. The match saw Bihar initially trailing 1-11, but the team displayed extraordinary grit and skill to level the score at 11-11 before battling for every point to turn the contest in their favour.
The momentous victory was witnessed by Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Raveendran Sankaran, members of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Bihar Olympic Association—Dr Sanjay Sinha, Dr Arun Ojha, and Dr Pankaj Jyoti—along with officials Sanjay Kumar and Parimal, supervisors Dr Karunesh and Rana Pratap, contingent assistants Mohd Haroon and Sudhanshu, and the entire Bihar team, including players, trainers, and managers, present in Dehradun.
Chandan Wins Silver in Lawn Bowls
Bihar’s Chandan Kumar put up a stellar performance in the men’s singles lawn bowls final. Though he narrowly lost in a closely contested match against Jharkhand’s Sunil, he secured a silver medal, adding to Bihar’s growing medal tally.
Bronze for Bihar in Modern Pentathlon
In the laser run men’s event held in Haldwani, Bihar’s three-member team—Prince 1, Prince 2, and Ankit—delivered an impressive performance, securing a bronze medal for the state.
