Bihar U-19 men suffer second straight defeat in Vinoo Mankad Trophy

Patna: Andhra Pradesh defeated Bihar by nine wickets in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under-19 Men’s One Day Cricket Tournament on Saturday. This was Bihar’s second consecutive defeat.

Earlier, four changes were made in the Bihar team today. Shivam, Aditya Raj, Md Kaif and Badal Kanojia were rested. Armaan, Abhiraj Dutt, Aditya Shivam and Rishabh Bharadwaj were given a chance.

Batting first, Bihar scored 153 runs in 49.2 overs. Chasing the target of 154 runs, Andhra Pradesh scored 154 for the loss of one wicket in 37.4 overs and won the match.

In this match played at the second ground of Jadavpur University campus in Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh won the toss and invited Bihar to bat first.

Batting first, Bihar scored 153 runs in 49.2 overs for the loss of all wickets. For Bihar, captain Kumar Shrey made 36 off 49 balls with the help of 3 fours and one six. Pawan Rai scored 10, Yashasvi Shukla made 9, Ayush Anand made 37 in 86 balls, Harshit Anand scored 27 runs off 57 balls. Rishabh Bhardwaj scored 18 runs in 33 balls. Apart from this, Abhiraj Dutt scored 4, Md Izhar scored 0, Armaan 5, Anoop Kumar scored 2 not out, Aditya Shivam scored 0 runs.

For Andhra Pradesh, TA Hemanth Kumar took three wickets for 29 runs, Mallikarjun bagged three wickets for 34 runs, M Deepak pocketed one wicket for 26 runs and  G Chanti bagged one wicket for 28 runs.

In reply, Andhra Pradesh easily cross the winning target off 37.4 overs losing one wicket with the help of  unbeaten 64 from K Revanatha Reddy and 56 not out from T Varun Satwik. Anoop Kumar bagged lone wicket for Bihar giving away 25 runs. Bihar tried a total of seven bowlers.
