Patna, July 3: In a significant move to enhance Kho-Kho development in Bihar, Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, met with Raveendran Sankaran, the Director General cum Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority. The meeting aimed to discuss various initiatives and programs designed to boost the popularity and performance of Kho-Kho in the state.
Neeraj Kumar Pappu detailed the ongoing efforts by the Kho-Kho Association, including the Women’s Kho-Kho League and Men’s Kho-Kho League. He highlighted the daily training sessions conducted by district units, where hundreds of players practice and hone their skills.
Pappu also shared the success of the recent Khelo India Junior and Sub-Junior Women’s Kho-Kho League held in Lakhisarai. The event attracted teams from eastern and northeastern regions, with Bihar securing second place in the sub-junior category and third place in the junior category. Arjun Awardee Nasreen Sheikh graced the event as the chief guest, providing inspiration and encouragement to the young athletes.
Raveendran Sankaran, appreciating the efforts of the Kho-Kho Association, assured full government support for the sport’s development. He encouraged Pappu to provide a detailed account of the association’s needs, promising that the authority is ready to assist. Sankaran also discussed the upcoming women’s and men’s Kho-Kho leagues and how the authority can support these events. Additionally, he proposed the organization of training camps to improve team performance in national tournaments.
Sankaran reiterated the Bihar State Sports Authority’s commitment to the development of all sports, emphasizing a collaborative approach with the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar. The meeting concluded with Sankaran honoring Neeraj Kumar Pappu by presenting him with the Authority’s T-shirt, recognizing his significant contributions to the sport.
This collaborative effort marks a pivotal step towards promoting and developing Kho-Kho in Bihar, ensuring that the sport receives the attention and resources it needs to flourish.
