Patna: The fourth Bihar State Cadet, Sub Junior, Junior, and Senior Grappling Wrestling Championship commenced today at Gulabbag Radhakrishna Mandir in Barh (Patna) under the auspices of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association. The event has attracted hundreds of male and female participants from various districts across Bihar.
In the opening match of the men’s 74 kg weight category, Sachin from Patna defeated Vivek from Khagaria with a score of 7-5. In the women’s 42 kg category, Suman Kumari from Vaishali triumphed over Lata Khatoon from East Champaran by 5-4 points. Additionally, Mahi from Patna won against Priyanka from Khagaria in the 46 kg category with a score of 8-6, while in the men’s 62 kg category, Roshan Kumar from East Champaran defeated Prince Kumar from Vaishali by 6-4 points, advancing to the second round.
Earlier, the two-day state championship was officially inaugurated by the chief guest and social worker, Kishlay Kishore, who is also the President of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association. The event was also graced by Vinod Singh Samrat, Patron of the Association and former Chairman of Sonepur Municipal Council; Karnaveer Singh Yadav, Organizing President and social worker; and Gauri Shankar, General Secretary of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association. The inauguration ceremony included a ribbon-cutting, lamp-lighting, and an introduction to the players.
Addressing the players and spectators, Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association President Kishlay Kishore emphasised the association’s plans to promote grappling wrestling, particularly in rural areas. He assured that all necessary facilities would be provided to grappling wrestlers and expressed confidence that grappling wrestling would eventually feature in the Asian Games and Olympic Games. Organizing President Lallu Mukhiya also pledged to provide the best possible facilities for the participants, ensuring that the event proceeds smoothly without any shortcomings.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by District Association Vice President Ramanuj Singh Pehlwan, Secretary Satish Kumar, Technical Director Deepak Singh Kashyap, and several other dignitaries, including sports enthusiasts.
