Patna: On the first day of the four-day third Bihar State Closed Squash Championship organised by the All Bihar State Squash Racket Association at Bankipur Club Squash Court, last year’s winner Abdul Rahman defeated Aditya Kumar Rai 11-4, 11-3, 11-1 easily in the senior men’s category.
In the other men’s matches, Ankush Kumar beat Lal Babu Rai 11-7, 11-3, 11-6, Dipesh Kumar beat Vishnu Kumar 11- 4,11-4,11-2, Priyansh Kedia beat Shivam Kant 11-7,12-10,11-7, Mayank Kumar beat Vishwajit Kumar 11-1,11-0,11-0, Saurabh Kumar Aggarwal defeated Ravi Kumar 11-0,11-0,11-0 Sujit Kumar defeated Vidhan Kumar Thakur 11-2,11-2,11-2 to enter the next round.
In the U-15 boys’ category, Kundan Kumar beat Indra Kumar 11-7,4-11,11-7,6-11,11-6, Raunak Kumar defeated Abhinav Shankar 11-6,11-7,11-9.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Dr M. Prakash, secretary, Bankipur Club, Patna and Dr Sanjay Kumar Santhalia, treasurer of Bankipur Club, jointly by cutting the ribbon. On this occasion, All Bihar State Squash Racket Association secretary Dr Kaushal Kishore Singh, association member Baijnath Prasad, senior coach Manish Kumar, Avinash Dubey, Usha Goswami, Satish Kumar Singh, Tej Narayan Kumar were present. Organising Secretary Shyam Kumar Jha welcomed the guests.
