Patna: Jagdish Kumar Das, popularly known as JK Das, the founder of the Ambedkar Khel Vihar Foundation, passed away on 8 December at his residence in Patna after battling prostate cancer.
JK Das was a revered figure in Bihar’s sports community, particularly for his contributions to promoting school sports. Through his foundation, he played a pivotal role in nurturing young talent by organising various school tournaments, including carrom and cricket.
Beyond school-level events, Das also hosted significant sporting competitions under his foundation’s banner, such as the Shyamnandan Memorial Football Tournament. His efforts extended beyond sports, as he organised cultural programmes like painting competitions to encourage artistic talents in schools.
In addition to nurturing talents, Das recognised their achievements by holding annual felicitation ceremonies. His contributions to both sports and culture earned him widespread respect and admiration.
The untimely demise of JK Das has left the entire sports community in grief. Tributes have poured in, with many praying for the peace of his soul.
