Bihar Red face Bihar Blue in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cup women’s cricket final

Patna: Bihar Red defeated Bihar South by 5 wickets to set up final clash with Bihar Blue who defeated Bihar North by 71 runs in the T20 Women’s Cricket Championships for Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cup at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Sunday.

In the first semi-final match played on Saturday, Bihar Red won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first Bihar South scored 122 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Vishalakshi scored 61 runs with the help of 8 fours and one six. Sandhya Verma scored 9 runs with the help of 2 fours. Rachna Ojha scored 5 runs, Sana Ali scored 6 runs and Soni Kumari scored 7 runs.

For Bihar Red, Yashita Singh took two wickets for 21 runs, Shobhana Saket, Nutan Singh, Surya Bhardwaj and Simran took one wicket each.

In reply, Red scored 126 runs in 17.2 overs losing 5 wickets. Shobhana Saket scored 27 runs with the help of 4 fours, Yashita Singh scored 25 runs with the help of 5 fours, Prachi scored 18 runs and Palak Singh Rathore scored 8 runs.

For South, Sandhya Verma took two wickets for 6 runs. Nisha Bharti took one wicket.

Woman of the match was awarded to Yashita Singh of the Bihar Red.

In the second semi-final match, Bihar Blue defeated Bihar North by 71 runs.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bihar Blue scored 131 runs in 18 overs losing 6 wickets. Andrew Rani scored 42 runs with the help of 4 fours, Shikha Singh scored 29 runs with the help of 2 fours, Arya Seth scored 19 runs with the help of 3 fours. Baby Rosie scored 10 runs and Doli Kumari scored 8 runs.

Preeti Priya, Sonal Kumari, Soni Thakur and Shailja Kumari of Bihar North took one wicket each.

In reply, Bihar North could manage to score only 60 runs in 18 overs losing 9 wickets. Sonal Kumari scored 18 runs, Ameesha scored 8 runs.

For Bihar Blue, Nippu ttok two wickets for five runs, Priyanka took two wickets for four runs, Baby Rosie, Pooja and Doli took one wicket each.

The Woman of the Match award was given to Andrew Rani.

Tournament committee chairman Satish Kumar Raju and match coordinator Samridh Verma said that on Sunday (December 25), the final match of the tournament will be held between Bihar Red and Bihar Blue. An exhibition match will be played between BCA committee and BJP Sports Cell team.

Raju said the prize distribution ceremony of the final match will be held at 4:00 pm. National secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party Ritu Raj Sinha will be the chief guest. Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council Samrat Chaudhary, Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad and President of Bihar Cricket Association Rakesh Kumar Tiwari  will be the guests of honour.
