Patna: Bihar para athletes Gajendra Kumar, Sintu Kumar and coach Sandeep Kumar returned home on Wednesday after winning medals in the Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Germany. They were accorded warm welcome by sports lovers and officials of Bihar State Sports Authority.
It is worth mentioning that Gajendra Kumar and Sintu Kumar, two talented athletes from Bihar represented the country in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, from June 7 to June 25, 2023. About 7000 players from 190 countries participated in this Special Olympics, including 200 players and 60 coaches from India.
Gajendra Kumar brought laurels to Bihar by winning silver medal in 400-metre race and bronze medal in shot put. At the airport, sports officer of Bihar State Sports Authority Rajendra Kumar and other officials and players were also present.
Welcoming the players on their return to Patna, Bihar’s Art, Culture and Youth Department Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai and Additional Chief Secretary Harjot Kaur Bamrah, Bihar State Sports Authority Director General cum Chief Executive Officer Raveendran Sankaran and Director cum Secretary Pankaj Raj congratulated them and wished them a bright future.
