Patna: In a significant move aimed at establishing a drug-free society in Bihar, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has taken decisive action by destroying 1,100 kg of narcotics. This operation was conducted under the leadership of Abhishek Anand, Zonal Director of the Bihar-Jharkhand Zone, following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The NCB has been actively running campaigns to curb drug trafficking and usage across the region.
Narcotics Disposal and Campaign Objectives
Speaking on the initiative, Zonal Director Abhishek Anand emphasised that the disposal of narcotics adhered strictly to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This effort aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Drugs Free India” campaign and represents a collaborative approach between the central government, the state government, and relevant departments to combat drug abuse effectively.
Bihar’s Vision for a Drug-Free State
Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Saat Nishchay Yojana, the Bihar government has set a goal to make the state drug-free. Following the prohibition of alcohol, the government’s intensified efforts against drugs have emerged as a pivotal measure. Bihar Police and allied departments are rigorously pursuing drug smugglers and users, further solidifying the state’s commitment to this cause.
Tackling Smugglers and Protecting Society
The NCB team has been working relentlessly to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the drug trade. This campaign’s primary objective is to eradicate drug trafficking and protect society, particularly the youth, from the devastating impact of narcotics. Law enforcement agencies remain proactive in their pursuit of smugglers to ensure the success of this mission.
Raising Awareness in Society
Another critical aspect of the campaign is fostering societal awareness about the dangers of drug use. Youth in particular are being educated about the harmful effects of drugs through various awareness programmes. The state government, in partnership with social organisations, is conducting de-addiction drives to help individuals overcome substance dependency.
A Shared Vision for a Drug-Free India
Under the banner of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Drugs Free India” initiative, every effort is being made to eliminate drug use nationwide. The destruction of 1,100 kg of narcotics by the NCB in Bihar-Jharkhand signifies a significant stride towards this vision. This robust action not only sends a strong warning to drug traffickers but also contributes to securing a safer, drug-free future for society, especially for its younger generation.
This joint endeavour by the state and central governments underscores a steadfast commitment to eradicating drug abuse, paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous community.
