Patna, July 29: Bihar Water Resources, Information and Public Relations Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha held a Janata Darbar at JD(U) headquarters on Friday to listen to the plight of citizens related to his department. He also resolved them and gave necessary instructions to the concerned officers.

Talking to the reporters after the Janata Darbar, Sanjay Kumar Jha said that during this time every year, we used to fight against the problem of floods, but this year there is drought-like situation in the state due to very less rainfall. However, if there is enough rain in the coming weeks, there will be relief. From June 1 to July 28, the state received only 278 mm of rainfall this year, as compared to 474 mm of rainfall during the same period last year. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister has already announced subsidy on diesel, he added.

He said that all the concerned departments are holding regular review meetings on the drought situation to sort out problem in irrigation. Regular talks are also being held with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and at present they are releasing 12000 to 13000 cusecs of water per day. Efforts are on to ensure that water reaches the tail end at all places.

The district magistrate of Supaul district has got 150km-long canal cleaning work done through MNREGA. We are conducting survey for this in entire Bihar. It is the commitment of the Chief Minister that irrigation water should be ensured to every field before the 2025 elections. For this revolutionary work, five departments of Water Resources, Minor Irrigation, Agriculture, Energy and Panchayati Raj are working together with full vigor.

While answering a question regarding the slogans raised in the presence of RCP Singh, he said that the people raising slogans there are not JDU workers, because there is only one recognised leader in JDU and he is the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who took the state on the path of development in the last 16-17 years. There is no faction in JD(U) and it is the only party among the regional parties of the country where there is no patriarchy. Responding to a question regarding the programmes being organised by the BJP across the state, he said that every party has every right to do its own programme.

On the occasion, vice president in-charge of headquarters of JD(U) Dr Naveen Arya Chandravanshi, JD(U) general secretary Arun Kumar Singh and Lok Prakash Singh were also present.
