Patna: Director General cum Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran, expressed happiness over the approval of the proposal for the creation of 382 posts for the smooth operation of Bihar State Sports Authority, Sports Academy, and International Cricket Stadium in Rajgir. The government approved the proposal in the cabinet meeting on Friday. Sankaran thanked the government and the Sports Department, stating that this is a significant gift for the players of Bihar.
Out of the 382 new posts, 200 coaches are to be appointed, including 48 for the Sports Academy and 152 for the Bihar State Sports Authority and District. In the cabinet meeting, Principal Secretary of Sports Department, Bihar, B. Rajender, issued a detailed press release on the approval, highlighting the creation of 301 posts for various categories at the headquarters and regional levels for the smooth management and operation of the Bihar State Sports Authority. Additionally, 81 posts were approved for the smooth operation of the State Sports Academy and the international standard cricket stadium under construction in Rajgir, Nalanda district.
The Bihar State Sports Authority in Patna, funded by the Sports Department, aims to promote sports and athletes in Bihar, implement sports-related schemes by the governments of India and Bihar, organize sports competitions, and maintain sports infrastructure. It also aims to establish and operate sports academies and training centers, coordinate with national and international sports institutes and associations, and encourage the establishment of sports academies.
The approval for the creation of new posts will facilitate the selection and training of talented young players at the state level, helping prepare them for national and international competitions. The State Sports Academy and the international standard cricket stadium in Rajgir aim to provide scientific training, residential and non-residential facilities, and modern sports infrastructure for various sports at both national and international levels. The cricket stadium will meet BCCI standards and be equipped for hosting international, national, IPL, and league cricket matches, along with providing training facilities.
Currently, a total of 24 sports disciplines, including cricket, football, athletics, hockey, volleyball, basketball, badminton, judo, taekwondo, lawn tennis, handball, cycling, swimming, kabaddi, wrestling, weightlifting, boxing, wushu, fencing, squash, archery, shooting, table tennis, and billiards, can be organized and trained at the State Sports Academy and the international standard cricket stadium in Rajgir.
Approval has been given for the creation of 81 posts of various categories for the smooth operation of the under-construction State Sports Academy and international standard cricket stadium at Rajgir in the Nalanda district.
