Patna: In a significant boost to employment in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar distributed appointment letters to 6,341 junior engineers and 496 instructors at a formal ceremony held today. The event took place in the Samvad Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, attended by several senior ministers of the Bihar government, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
The recruitment of junior engineers was carried out by the Bihar Technical Service Commission under Advertisement No. 01/2019, covering civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Notably, 2,338 engineers were appointed to the Water Resources Department following a counselling and certificate verification process conducted from 14 to 19 January 2025, with an additional session for absentees on 24 January 2025. The recruitment process for other departments was successfully concluded by mid-January.
Ministers from various key departments were present at the appointment letter distribution ceremony, including Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Minor Water Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Suman, Rural Works Minister Ashok Chaudhary, PHED Minister Neeraj Kumar Singh, Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Naveen, Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj, Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh, and Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
During his address, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities for Bihar’s youth. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed engineers and instructors would carry out their duties with dedication and integrity, contributing to the state’s infrastructure and technical education development.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also commended the government’s transparent and fair recruitment process, ensuring that deserving candidates received their rightful appointments. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in reducing Bihar’s unemployment rate, as similar recruitment drives are being conducted regularly across various government departments.
At the conclusion of the event, the newly appointed engineers and instructors expressed gratitude to the government and pledged to fulfil their responsibilities with diligence and commitment.
The Bihar government had earlier pledged to provide 12 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. According to official figures, 9,13,000 jobs have already been created, while 24 lakh employment opportunities have been provided—surpassing the initial target. The government now aims to create an additional 10 lakh jobs, with this appointment letter distribution ceremony being a part of that broader initiative.
