Patna: The Bihar government has made a important announcement regarding the allocation of preferred postings for the state’s teachers. Bihar Education Minister, Sunil Singh, revealed this development while responding to opposition queries during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday.
He assured that the transfer and posting process for teachers would be finalised within the next two months, enabling them to serve in their preferred locations.
Teachers to Submit 10 Preferences for Posting
The Education Minister said that teachers will be required to provide a total of 10 preferences for their desired postings. Their final placement will be determined based on these options. To ensure a smooth and transparent process, the government has developed specialised software, which will guarantee fairness and efficiency.
Criteria for Posting Allocation
- Teacher postings will be allocated based on specific criteria, primarily focusing on the following three points:
- Teachers suffering from serious illnesses will be prioritised for their preferred postings.
- If a teacher’s spouse is also employed in government service, efforts will be made to assign them postings in the same location.
- Teachers will be allowed to select their preferred posting location, subject to the availability of vacancies.
Procedure if Desired Posting is Unavailable
The Education Minister clarified that if a teacher does not receive any of their 10 preferred postings, they will be given an opportunity to reconsider their options. Teachers can also appeal to the District Magistrate (DM), Commissioner, or a special committee established at the departmental level regarding their transfer.
Priority for Teachers Above 40 Years of Age
The Minister highlighted that teachers above the age of 40 who are suffering from serious illnesses have already been allocated their preferred postings. The government is committed to ensuring that no teacher faces difficulties during the transfer or posting process and that they are given the opportunity to work in their desired location.
Response to Opposition Queries
The opposition had raised questions regarding the entire process, prompting the Education Minister’s announcement. He said that the government is prioritising the welfare of teachers and that the new system will soon be implemented with full transparency. This initiative by the Bihar government aims to provide teachers with the opportunity to work in their preferred locations, thereby enhancing their efficiency and strengthening the education system. Not only will this benefit teachers, but it will also create a better learning environment for students.
