Ranchi: The third day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2023 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw Hockey Association of Odisha and Hockey Bengal register victories in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category, while Hockey Association of Odisha, Assam Hockey, and Hockey Jharkhand emerged victorious in their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category.
In the first match of the day Hockey Association of Odisha beat Hockey Bihar by 6-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goal scorers for the Hockey Association of Odisha were Captain Supriya (14’), Anjana Xaxa (4’, 6’, 31’, 45’), and Kiro Sanjana (42’).
The second match saw Hockey Bengal defeat Assam Hockey by 6-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Akshita Tirki (1’), Purba Chakraborty (31’, 48’), Tania Sikdar (34’, 58’), and Piyali Oraw (42’) all scored to seal the victory for Hockey Bengal.
Hockey Association of Odisha beat Manipur Hockey by 6-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Lakra Aklesh (8’) opened the account for the Hockey Association of Odisha, followed by goals from Kerketta Mandeep (20’, 39’, 60’), Lakra Ashish (54’), and Barla Sujit (60’) to confirm the win.
The fourth match of the day saw Assam Hockey defeat Hockey Bengal by 1-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. The only goal of the game was scored by Dey Amal (52’) in the last quarter.
Hockey Jharkhand defeated Hockey Bihar by 6-1 in the last match of the day in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Purti Ashish (5’), Kerketta Sujeet (26’, 49’), Patras Hassa (21’), Soreng Sumray (51’), and Dodray Simon (55’) were the goalscorers for Hockey Jharkhand while Captain Amrendra Kumar Singh (19’) scored the only goal for Hockey Bihar.
