Patna: Bihar faced defeat in their final league match of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy organised by the BCCI, losing to Punjab by 8 wickets. Competing in Group E, Bihar concluded the tournament with two wins and four losses from six matches, placing them sixth in the points table. Madhya Pradesh topped the group, while Meghalaya finished at the bottom without any points.
The match took place at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium in Trivandrum, where Bihar captain Pragati Singh won the toss. Although the top order batters performed adequately, the middle and lower order faltered, resulting in a total of only 78 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Yashhita Singh was the top scorer with 25 runs, followed by Apoorva Kumari with 22 and Preeti with 12. Other contributions included 3 runs from captain Pragati Singh and 1 run each from Arya Seth and Tejaswi. Three players were run out during the innings.
For Punjab, Mannat Kashyap took 1 wicket for 16 runs, Neetu Singh claimed 3 wickets for 18 runs, and Kanika Ahuja secured 1 wicket for 9 runs.
In response, Punjab chased down the target comfortably, scoring 79 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in just 11 overs. Tanya Sapna Bhatia contributed 24 runs, while Ridhima Agarwal added 25, and Kanika Ahuja remained unbeaten on 19 runs.
Bihar’s bowling efforts saw Tejaswi take 1 wicket for 15 runs, and captain Pragati Singh claimed 1 wicket for 17 runs.
