Bihar Face Innings Defeat Against Haryana in Ranji Trophy Opener

Patna: Bihar suffered a crushing defeat in their Ranji Trophy opener as Haryana overpowered them by an innings and 43 runs on the second day of the match at Lahli in Haryana.

In the first innings, Bihar were dismissed for just 78 runs. In response, Haryana posted a total of 254 runs before being bowled out. Bihar’s second innings saw them collapse once again, this time for 133 runs.

On the second day of play, Saturday (12 October 2024), Haryana resumed their innings from 184 for 7. JJ Yadav’s resilient knock of 55 runs helped them reach a total of 254 runs in 74.2 overs.

Haryana’s first innings featured contributions from several players, including Ankit Kumar (28), Lakshya Suman Dalal (22), HJ Rana (21), Nishant Sindhu (18), Dhiru Singh (11), Kapil Hooda (34), SP Kumar (38), and JJ Yadav (55).

For Bihar, Himanshu Singh was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 49 runs. Sachin Kumar Singh claimed 3 for 48, Sakibul Gani took 1 for 11, Anuj Raj picked up 1 for 52, and Veer Pratap Singh secured 1 for 43.

In Bihar’s second innings, they struggled once more, being bowled out for 133 runs in 39.5 overs. Key contributions came from Sarman Nigrodh (32), Raghavendra Pratap (11), Vipin Saurabh (20), Sachin Kumar Singh (25), while Himanshu Singh remained unbeaten on 15.

For Haryana, JJ Yadav was again the star, taking 5 wickets for 57 runs. Nishant Sindhu claimed 3 for 39, and Anshul Kamboj took 2 for 22 to secure a comprehensive victory for their team.
